The history of the castle probably began in the second half of the 13th century, when the castle was built in a strategically advantagerous place above the Javorník. The first written mention of Javorník Castle dates from 1307 and the building was the property of the counts of Svidncie at that time. These counts left the castle in 1348 to the bishop of Wrocław, Přeclav of Pogarella. From that time, the castle and its surroundings, except for a few smaller breaks, were a part of a large area that belonged to the diocese of Wrocław (Czech Vratislav, German Breslau). http://www.janskyvrch.cz/
Castle Jánský Vrch - Javorník

Castle Jánský Vrch is the only accessible historic monument of the Jeseník district, together with the landscape park it forms a significant dominant feature of the town´s monument zone. It rises on a rocky hill above the town of Javorník, which can be found in the northernmost tip of the Olomouc region, in former territory of Silesia.
